![]() ARCHIVE PAGE EASY Theatre is doing something very unexpected, unique, and wonderfully exciting. They have published the first draft of OPENINGS to read. "We are letting people see the metamorphosis of an idea into a tangible production," says the playwright. "We also hope to find other artist who are inspired and excited by the work." Students are invited to read the first draft then see the work come to life. High school and college teachers of Literature, Drama, Dance, Poetry, and Art may contact us for a printable copy of the first draft for use in their classrooms. For those close enough to attend, there is a special $1 performance on Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. for students who have read the script. After the play, the playwright, director, choreographer, and others will be available to answer questions. You are encouraged to register you classes early, to reserve
your seats.
It is fun to study a living work where no one has any preconceived ideas. Read the play here for yourself. You will find that it will spark the imagination. Class discussion will be diverse, because of the playwright's use of imagery. We think the play should be read aloud (including the stage directions) in it's entirety before discussion begins, so that each person can experience it in their own way. Because it is a play, the readers should take the roles, and move around during the reading. After the reading, actors are
encouraged break into groups and stage the parts they found the most interesting.
Artists are encouraged to read the play and create art from the imagery and themes they find there. Enter art works into the OPENINGS Exhibition Windows and Doors. Or have your own showing, and send or bring the best individual or collaborative work to the OPENINGS Exhibition. Creative Writing inspired by the play should be sent to us. Wome will be chosen and placed on this web site. Dancers are invited to choreograph a number from the play, based on their ideas inspired by the writing. The music should be easy to obtain. You may want to video tape your performances and send it to us. If you are close enough and the timing works, we love to send a videographer to your school. All rights reserved!
