Register now!  Groups fill quickly, and often there is a waiting list.  When you pay your deposit, you are committing to the whole fee.  Deposit are refunded if a class does not make. 
SPRING 2011 Groups 
BASTROP Touring Troupe Festival Performers: 
Youth Theater Festival
  • Director Engela Edwards will direct a 40-minute touring show for returning performs ages 5-19 who wish to be in the Youth Touring Troupe, but you must register by Dec. 15, 2010.  $25 deposit needed to register.
  • Performers will be of a mixed age group but no older than 19 in June. Performs must be able to handle the 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily conference schedule at the festival, and be able to learn lines quickly. The Touring Troupe is for the most dedicated performers, since it requires more time, money, flexibility, and a parental commitment during the rehearsal process and at the festival. 
  • Casting in January. 
  • Limited rehearsals during the begining of the semester. 
  • No rehearsals from March 12 - April 30 (spring break). 
  • Rehearsal times will start after normal school hours, exact time dependent on who is in the Troupe.
  • Extensive rehearsals during the month of May.
  • Perform the first weekend in June at the Bastrop Opera House. 
  • Perform at the Youth Festival June 8 to the 12th in College Station with up to 14 other youth companies from around the state.
  • Parents attend the festival with their child unless they can get another approved parent to be responsible for their child at the festival! 
  • Cost for the performer will be $160 for the semester which includes the festival fee for all performers who successfully complete the rehearsal and performance, but does not include the performer and parent's room, board, travel expenses or the parent's room and board nor the parent's festival fee of $70. $25 deposit needed to register.

BASTROP Non-Festival Performers: Registration Deadline January 15, 2011. 
  • Wednesday Groups and Saturday Groups
  • For new and returning actors (no unger than age 5.)
  • No rehearsals during Spring Break. March 12-20, 2011.
  • Make you deposit using the buttons below. (Non refundable $25 deposit needed to register.)  When you make your deposit you are committing to pay the whole fee.  Deposit will be refunded if there aren't enough performers for the group to make. 
  • Read this whole page!
  • After you pay the deposit below, you'll be taken to a registration form which you must complete and submit.
  • Fees:  $160.  ($25 Nonrefundable deposit due Dec. 15, $50 due February 15, $85 due March 15, 2011. Late fee $25 for each missed payment deadline.)
    Multiple Wednesday rehearsal groups:
  • Directed by Jon-Michael Williford
  • Weekly rehearsals start Feb. 9, 16, 23, March 2, 9, 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25. 
  • Weely rehearsal times before 3 p.m. (age 5 up). 
  • Weekly rehearsal times after 4 p.m. (age 5 up). 
  • Show week May 31-June 5 at the Bastrop Opera House (two performances).
  • Weekly rehearsals are no less than one hour and no more than two hours. (Longer during show week.)
  • Wear your costume and makeup to rehearsal on May 4 for cast photos.
  • Daily Dress rehearsals are Tuesday - Friday, May 31, June 1, 2, 3.  Times to be determined but close to your regular rehearsal time.
  • Come dressed in costume and makeup. 
  • If you are coming from school or work, the dressing rooms will be open 30 minutes before your rehearsal time so you can get dressed.
  • Bring a non-messy snack.  (To drink bring water only, to avoid accidental spills that will ruin your costume or someone else's costume.)
  • Friday you must leave your full costumes in the theater, so bring something to wear home. 
  • Multiple Saturday rehearsal groups:
    • Weekly Saturday rehearsals
    • Performances in June.

More Details for BASTROP Participants: PLEASE READ
  • Performances are Saturday and Sunday, the first weekend in June at a time to be determind. 
  • Combined cast, crew, and family party after the last show on Sunday June 5. 
  • Parents or caregivers of young actors may quietly observe during rehearsals. 
  • Actors must wear comfortable clothing, bring a pencil, and bring a bottle of water with the actor's name on it to every rehearsal.
  • Shows are to be chosen or created to fit cast. 
  • Weekly Rehearsal location: Bastrop Opera House Studio, the yellow building immediately behind the theater.  711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.
  • Performance and Final week location:  Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.
  • Absences
    • While being at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, we know illness and emergencies happen.  We expect that if and actor is sick that they stay home, but call the director.  Actors must be fever, diarrhea, and vomiting free for 24 hours before coming to a rehearsal. 
    • The director will consider each case individually to determine if missed rehearsal will keep a actor from performing his role.
    • We must be informed at registration if there are ANY rehearsal or performance conflicts. 
  • MONEY:
    • Enrolling:  
      1. Pay the non-refundable deposit due at registration by clicking the deposit button below. 
      2. After paying the deposit, you will be taken to a page with a registration form. 
      3. Complete and send the form.  When you pay your deposite and return your form then you will be registered.  (Deposit + Form = registered.)
      4. Work scholarships are availble for Wednesday groups to new people and people who are in good standing from prior semesters.  To be considered, you must pay your deposit, fill out the form, request the work scholarship, and be approved, then you will be considered registered.
      5. There are two additional payments.  One do on Feb. 15, and one due on March 15.  Unless a different payment plan has been approved in advance. 
      6. $25 late fee for each payment deadline missed. 
    • Cancellations:
      • When you make your deposit for a rehearsal slot, you are committing to the whole fee.
      • If we have to cancel a group because there aren't enough people enrolled, your entire fee will be returned.
    • Additional Expenses: 
      • In our attempt to make this experience affordable, we keep optional expense like tickets and costumes separate from registration fees. Everyone in the audience must have a ticket. 
      • You provide your costume which must be completely ready on photo day. 
      • These fees do not cover the cost of the project!  We expect everyone to sell tickets and program ads for the show!
We reserves the right to make changes to these group offerings until there is someone signs up for the rehearsal group.
