Cooperative Learning Academic Program: Austin
Purpose: To create collaborative learning opportunities for homeschoolers in Austin. 

Vision includes academic curricula taught in a child-directed and interactive manner by instructors with college degrees or the equivalent in their area of instruction. 

Expectations: Teachers
  • Teachers are encouraged to promote intrinsic motivation and a love of learning in the spirit of cooperation with parents and students. 
  • Hold a college degree or the equivalent in their area of instruction.
  • Discipline with love and respect only.
  • Because we value high-quality instruction, instructors are treated as professionals and paid appropriately.

    Parents
  • Help in their child's classroom twice per semester.
  • Rotate organizational roles.
  • Support their child in completing assignments.
  • Attend meetings regularly (at least one per semester).
  • Participate in the democratic processes.
  • Pay tuition on time.
  • Monitor your eMail for notices.
  • Students
    Students are expected to participate.
    Dates: Fall 2005 Semester
    14 Mondays, Aug. 22 - Dec. 5 
    Excluding Labor Day - Sep. 5 
        and Columbus Day Oct. 10
    Times: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. for ages 4-6
    10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. for ages 7-13
    Location: Central Austin close to N. Lamar and 45th St. in rented classrooms.

    Costs: $300 for ages 4-6 
    $350 for ages 7-15
    Payments: Paid in full or divided into 4 payments starting the August 22.
    Depost: $75 for ages 4-6 
    $100 for ages 7 up 
    Due immediately.
    Will be applied to the last months tuition. 
    Class
    Groupings:
    Classes are grouped by age at the time the semester begins with some exceptions
    • 4 - 5 year olds
    • 5 - 6 year olds
    • 7 - 9 year olds
    • 10 - 13 year olds
    Class roster
    Class Size: 12 students per class with one teacher and a minimum of one parent assistant per classroom
    Courses:  4 - 5 year olds (space available)
    • Will use an integrated unit-study curriculum designed by the instructor to meet the interests and development of her students.  This class is hands on and active.    Instructor Dee Cardenas

    These positions involve a great deal of work outside of the regular parent-volunteer hours in the classroom. Consequently, these positions are bartered for tuition or partial tuition.
